Charlo Greene Launches New Book & Freedom Tour While Awaiting Potential 54-Year Prison Sentence
July 11, 2018 --
Los Angeles, CA - July 11, 2018 - Charlo Greene, the famous advocate for marijuana legalization who shot to fame with her outburst on public TV, is now facing the biggest trial of her life that could send her to a potential 54 years in prison. Leading up to this trial, Charlo is releasing her self-help styled memoir, ‘F*ck It: A Guide to Letting Go & Living Free’ to go on sale July 17, 2018. Charlo will be available for interaction during her freedom tour across the US, while sharing her encouraging story and the message of the need for prison reform. The tour will see her touch down in the following cities Los Angeles, Washington DC, Atlanta, New York, Seattle, Portland and the Bay Area.
Charlo Greene was serving as a broadcast journalist in 2014 when she went viral during her show for declaring herself a legal marijuana activist, signing off with the now famous ‘F*ck it, I quit’. The video was viewed over 100 million times. She went on to legalize marijuana in Alaska for recreational use.
‘F*ck It’ is a raw, no-holds-barred, self-help book that will inspire everyone to let go and live the life we love. Charlo takes the readers through her childhood days of trauma as one of the seven, first generation Nigerian-American siblings, sexual assault, depression and stripping, right up to her days in the broadcasting industry and her triumphant moment of legalizing cannabis in her home state.
“Finally, the self-help book that you always wanted to read has arrived! Fierce. Raw. Unapologetic. Well-researched. Thoughtful,” says a recent reader review.
“This book is fantastic! I never knew there was so much more to Charlo's story. I simply could not put the book down. This lady is a fantastic asset to the legalization community,” says a recent reader.
Charlo’s fate will soon be known, as she faces marijuana related felony and misdemeanor charges at the trial scheduled for October 15, 2018. She will be documenting what could be her last free days on her blog.
“This is how I’m fighting for my life in the face of an Alaskan political prosecution that’s dragged on for years. I hope my book and tour will rally support for my case, while inspiring people who are fighting, just like me,” says Charlo Greene.
The impending prosecution, according to Charlo, is purely motivated by political agenda, and driven by the mass incarceration crisis. Her tour will highlight all of this as she collects strength to face her trial at the Alaska superior court. The charges were filed a whole year after she legalized cannabis in Alaska.
Charlo continues to advocate for cannabis and criminal justice reform while awaiting her trial. Her regular updates can be accessed on if official website at: www.charlogreene.com. And to know about this event and more in the future see the event page.
About Charlo Greene
Charlo Greene is a broadcast journalist and media expert turned activist and businesswoman who has emerged as a leading voice in the ongoing conversation about justice reform and cannabis legalization after garnering more than 100 million views online. Charlo became a recognized leader in cannabis activism in September 2014, when she punctuated her on-air report on the Alaska Cannabis Club with the bombshell that she was the club’s founder and owner, proudly declared her activism and signed off for the last time with, “F*ck it, I quit…” Immediately following her exit, Charlo successfully led the charge in Alaska’s 2014 effort to legalize recreational marijuana, securing Alaska’s place as the third state in the nation (and first Republican-led state) to legalize usage for adults. A longtime activist in the cannabis community, Charlo has established herself as a bona fide force for worldwide change—and as one of the few women of color in leadership positions in the industry, she has a unique voice that demands to be heard.
