Army Medical Research and Materiel Command Explored Open Innovation Strategies

April 15, 2012 --

Fort Detrick, MD (PRWEB) April 15, 2012

The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, has been on the forefront of medical discoveries for decades. There are many promising research opportunities as well as technologies just waiting to be commercialized into the civilian marketplace.

The Army Medical Command in conjunction with their Partnership Intermediate TEDCO, have began an Open Innovation pilot with MMC Productions Inc of Chapel Hill to inform and encourage investors, companies and entrepreneurs to explore the USAMRMCs extensive portfolio of available technologies.

"The primary goal of the technology transfer program of the Army Medical Command is to transfer inventions we've created in our laboratories, put them into the hands of the private sector, have the private sector turn these inventions into products, and then allow for the Department of Defense to purchase them back on the open market," says Dr. Paul Mele, Director of USAMRMC technology transfer office.

More information on these technologies can be found at http://www.urweb.tv/medical.html
